A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to it's old dimensions. -Oliver Wendell Holmes

My Goal is to build the best Home-Based Child Care & Early Childhood Educational Program in the area. I am completely dedicated to providing the best Childcare and Early Childhood Educational Services to the families enrolled in our Playcare, and will continually strive to improve upon the program in order to improve on what I already offer.

My philosophy and goal is to put more into this world than what I take out. The Early Childhood cause is my passion in life. I will continually advocate for this cause for the purpose of helping to positively shape the Early Childhood Industry because of the direct life long benefits associated with children who receive quality care and education during these formative years.

In addition, I firmly believe that quality Family Child Care is the best choice for working families with young children. A few reasons:

* One child care provider from infancy until school age provides an atmosphere of consistency, stability, and trust. The provider knows and understands the child better in family child care, as opposed to the child moving to a new classroom and teacher each year with new changes and environment. Children find comfort in familiar surroundings and people.

* The presence of all different ages of children together in care is most like that of a natural home/sibling environment relationship where the younger children learn new skills by watching the older children, and the the older children learn leadership, patience, and nurturing skills toward the younger children.

* Children learn real life skills and knowledge based upon everyday home experiences that help them relate and make sense of the world around them as they grow to become positive, productive, and socially well adjusted people.

* Because the provider knows each child so well because of the long term care they provide, the provider can typcially detect any developmental delays, or other issues sooner, which makes a difference when there may be a need for referrals for professional help.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has. --Margaret Mead

Other:

June 2008- I was featured in a video produced by the YWCA Childcare Solutions that was distributed throughout our region to childcare providers describing the new State Quality Star Tier Rating System, how it would benefit their childcare program, what's involved in the process, and how to complete the process. You can view this video at the bottom of our website Home Page.

June 2009- I spoke at a Rally at the YWCA Childcare Solutions protesting the proposed state funding cuts to the early childhood industry. The proposed cuts would cripple the childcare subsidy program, quality counts grants program, and programs that provide funding for special needs children. This would keep quality care out the reach of many working families, force many quality programs to close their doors (which limits the availability of quality childcare), cut services that are imperitive to housing, diagnosing, and treating children with various special needs, and cut the funding that helps programs provide much needed learning materials and equipment for our programs.
